Tigers are critically endangered. There are only 3,000 to 4,000 wild tigers left in the entire world.
Why is this animal endangered?
Loss of habitat, mostly due to human interference. Cutting down trees for wood are acts of deforestation that reduce the tigers habitat extremely. Humans hunt some of the tigers' prey species, and this way they take food away from the tiger populations. The loss of habitat also leads to a reduction in prey animals, so the area can support fewer tigers. Poaching is also a huge detriment to the tiger population. Tigers are poached for trophies, such as teeth and fur, and for use in traditional medicines.
How to save them:
Invest funds in protecting them.The problem is that people try to protect them, but they do not have the resources, funding, or manpower to sufficiently guard and watch over this animal. Some efforts to protect their habitat can be focused on programs aimed at reducing conflicts between tiger protected-area managers and people living in and around the reserves. Habitat protection, when combined with stricter law enforcement, is a vital part of the strategy to save the tiger.
